Preston Mendenhall

Country Head

Preston has more than 20 years' experience in emerging markets. As Kenya Country Head, he is responsible for Tatu City and other Rendeavour land developments in the country. He also leads sales, marketing and business development across Rendeavour's new city developments in Nigeria, Ghana and Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Previously, Preston was Head of Marketing & Public Affairs for Renaissance Group, the Moscow-based emerging markets investment firm. Prior to Renaissance, Preston was Vice President for Strategy of Russian Standard, Russia’s leading global consumer brand with interests in financial services and alcohol beverage production and distribution.

From 1993-2006, Preston was a producer and correspondent for NBC News, covering global events in the Soviet successor states, Europe, Central and South Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Preston is a graduate of Cornell University and Phillips Exeter Academy.

Alex Kahu

A veteran of Tatu City, Alex started his career with the company as an ICT engineer and rose to the Head of Utilities. Today, he is responsible for the management of power, water, waste and ICT infrastructure, leading a vibrant and dedicated team of water, electrical, and telecom engineers.

In addition to his role at Tatu City, Alex serves as Head of ICT for Rendeavour, the owner and developer of Tatu City and six other new city developments in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Alex holds a Bachelor of IT from Strathmore University and an MBA from Kenyatta University.

David Wachira Karimi

David has over six years' experience in the real estate industry. He has previously worked as a real estate advisor with other leading real estate companies and as a financial advisor in Old Mutual.

A seasoned public affairs, stakeholder management, communications and marketing expert with over 17 years experience developing and executing extensive multi-market internal and external relations projects including cultural transformations and stakeholder relations.

Previously, Solomon was Managing Director of H+K East Africa (part of WPP Scangroup) responsible for the Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania operations. Prior to H+K, Solomon was Vice President for Marketing and Communications for Renaissance Group’s Africa operations. Renaissance is the Moscow-based emerging markets investment firm.

With vast experience in organising and managing complex stakeholder engagement initiatives, Solomon has been at the core of creating global award-winning communications campaigns across various markets.

Wamagata manages urban planning and design for Tatu City. Previously, he worked with Centre for Urban and Regional Planning (CURP) and Planning Systems Services on several public and private projects including Urban Development Plans in Eldoret, Lamu, Kisumu and Nairobi.

Wamagata holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Landscape Architecture from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), a Master of Arts Degree in Urban Planning from University of Nairobi, and a Master of Science in City Design and Social Science from The London School of Economics and Political Science.

At Broll, Perminas honed his expertise in facilities projects planning and execution, budgeting and business development. Perminas has also previously worked in Pentawave East Africa as a consultant facilities and project manager and in Retriever East Africa as a Technical Client Support Supervisor.

Prior to joining Tatu City, Peter worked at Vipingo Ridge, Fairmont Mt. Kenya Safari Club and Muthaiga Golf Club.

As the SEZ Operations Manager, Thomas provides technical support to investors and stakeholders of Tatu City Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on matters related to SEZ operations, tax, customs and other statutory regulations. Thomas leads the Tatu City One-Stop Shop and serves as liaison between Tatu City SEZ clients and the government agencies.

Before joining Tatu City, Thomas worked as Project Manager and Customs Officer at diverse technical and managerial levels at the Kenya Revenue Authority for 15 years.

Thomas is a Certified Prince2 (Practitioner) Project Manager and holds MBA (Operations Management), Bachelor of Computer Science and Advanced Diploma in Project Management.

Prior to Tatu City, Moses worked for Ruiru Juja Water and Sewerage Company in the quality department and Transform Nations, an NGO, as an assistant program coordinator.
