Tatu City cranked up the volume on Day 1 of Capital FM Koroga, setting a record with 10,000 festival goers – four times more than ever before.

Christ Valliant, the community hip-hop group from BTL Estate next to Tatu City, opened the day with their “Tatu City is the Best” anthem, setting the scene at sunset for an evening of unparalleled entertainment.

Under the stars, Capital FM MixxMasters DJ Joe Mfalme, DJ Jo Kisila and DJ Rouge infused the night with their trademark sounds, prepping the crowd for headline performances by Gwaash and Ethic.

A celebration of African music, food, art and fashion, the Koroga Festival is a concert and open boutique market.

“Thank you Tatu City – this is the best Koroga ever!” exclaimed Gwaash, the eponymous front-man. “More space, more music and more people – the ultimate mix!”

Soaking up the atmosphere, Capital FM Chairman Chris Kirubi praised the Capital FM and Tatu City teams for their organistion. “This Koroga is unprecedented,” he said. “Let’s bring Koroga back to Tatu City as soon as possible!”

Day 2, on 7 July, is a family event headlined by internationally renowned Nigerian afrobeat maestro Femi Kuti, and featuring Jua Cali, Samidoh and Them Mushrooms.
Throughout the day, Koroga fans can catch a Tatu City bus for a tour of all the amenities, homes and businesses at Nairobi’s new city.
